Guess Where I Am!!!

It's 9:59PM and I'm in my bed!!! My REAL bed. Even though Micah has been sleeping through the night for almost a month it's not been in his bassinet. He started sleeping in his swing and I just didn't want to give up a good thing. So me and the couch became best friends. I took the leap tonight and so far so good. I just had to brag on my lil man for a minute. GOOD NIGHT!!!

Just one more brag. Micah took a bottle TWICE today!!! I feel a pedicure coming on real soon.

Two Months Too Fast

My sweet boy is 2 months old today. We had a check up today and all is well. Micah is 11.6lbs. and 24in. long. How is my baby already 2 feet. Hopefully he will be tall like his daddy. Of course he got shots today and then I asked my typical 1000 questions. Do any other moms worry they are not "playing" with their little one right? Maybe this is a crappy comparison on my part but it's all I have to go on. I've never raised a dog that does everything it should. You know like pee outside!?! Which makes me dread potty training.  So I worry sometimes I'm not doing everything I need to for Micah to be on "track". I don't mean that in the Mompetitor way but in the I worry about EVERYTHING way. My poor co-worker Dana probably dreads when I come into work and start my 1000 questions with her. I actually emailed her a list of questions so I wouldn't forget any when I saw her. Can you say CRAZY?

I was surprised Micah wasn't super fussy after his shots. He was a team player and let mommy do a little shopping at Target. I'm on the hunt for a bottle Micah will use. The one thing my wonderful baby hasn't mastered is using a bottle. I have great people who have volunteered to watch him, but he has to be able to use a bottle first.

These two months have been filled with so many emotions. Joy, sleepiness, scared, excitement, and most of all love. I love this little boy so much and I think he has made me love and appreciate my family in a whole new way. I'm so proud of the family Travis and I have made. This is only the beginning. I can't wait to see what is in store for us. I'm ready for each new day and what new memory it may bring.

I'm so tired of all the picture taking Mommy!!!

Weekend of Firsts

Micah and I had a great weekend. First exciting thing is we were out the door by 9:30AM on a Saturday. I actually showered AND had straight hair. I measure my accomplishments by if my hair was straight that day. I scheduled a play date with our moms group to celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday. It was a win/win situation. Micah got a cute pic with Dr. Suess and I got to shop at Baby Gap. So maybe that's just a win for Micah.

We then headed back home to meet Pee Paw (my dad) for our first road trip. Travis is working in West Virginia and we are missing him SO MUCH. It had been 4 weeks since Travis seen Micah. We decided to meet half way and celebrate Valentine's Day together. Packing with a baby is a whole new ball game. No more suitcase just for my shoes. Right now that's not a problem since I still can't fit any of my shoes:( I packed everything and the bath tub and still forgot stuff. Like DIAPERS!!! Who forgets DIAPERS???

The weather was calling for snow and I do not drive in snow. My dad was gracious enough to give up his weekend to ride with us just in case the roads were bad. Micah did great on the ride up. My dad was loving his back seat time with Micah. Thank goodness I can care less where I breastfeed. I can now say I'm a pro at it in gas station parking lots.

I think this was the fastest weekend of my life. I just wanted Travis to soak up every second with Micah. He got to give him his first real bath and see him smile. Can you imagine the difference to Travis? Micah was 3 weeks old when he left. Now he is smiling and sleeping through the night.

On Sunday I put Micah in his V-day outfit and we got started. Travis got Micah his first card. It was so cute. I don't think I have ever cried so much as I did this weekend. I/We have a family and we are creating some of our first memories together. After we celebrated Travis had to leave. It was so bittersweet. My dad so put it in perspective for us. He told us to imagine how our soldiers and their families feel. Think about how long they go without seeing each other. It made me so grateful for what time we do have. It also made me grateful for our troops. I have already reached my crying quota for the week so I can't expand on that thought as much as I would like.

Our trip home was beautiful with all the snow in the trees and we made it back safely. Micah got to check off two first, out of state trip and snow. Loving all this memory making!

So... I Had The Baby

I can't believe the last time I posted anything was in October. I have all these wonderful posts in my head but they seem to never make it here. The most wonderful thing happened to me and Travis on December 27, 2011 and it's time I shared it. MICAH ALEXANDER PITMAN IS HERE!!!!

Of course like any other story in my life Micah's arrival is full of craziness. I will try to make a long story short, but I never do.

Travis' parents had come down the day after Christmas for a visit. We were pretty bummed Micah didn't make it as a Christmas Baby. They had brought Christmas presents for Micah, but he wasn't here to open them. I felt a little off while they were here. I thought I might be having contractions, or it was just from over eating through the holiday. I wasn't really sure so I called my friend Kristen to see what she thought after his parents left. She very calmly advised me it was very much time to go to the hospital. I still wasn't sure. I paged the on call OB to see what he thought. He told me he wasn't sure what to tell me and just to come in. I dreaded going in. I didn't want to be one of those false alarm people. We arrived at the hospital around 9:00PM on the 26th. I felt like my contractions are 3 minutes apart. The triage nurse asked me my pain level on a scale of 1 to 10. I told her a 7. She looked at me like I was crazy. After a few hours she told me that she thought I was in pre-labor. The doctor decided to admit me at 12:00AM since I was already scheduled to be induced at 7:30AM.

We arrive in our room and meet our new nurse. She asks me my pain level. I tell her still a 7. She tells me the scale only goes up to 10 so I better rethink my number if I'm only in pre-labor. I tell her, "fine I'm a 5...is that better?" There's so much more to tell but I'm trying to keep it short.

We were told to relax we had plenty of time before Micah would be here. Travis decided to get something to eat in the cafeteria. I decided I needed to go to the bathroom. Next thing I know I'm stuck on the toilet, I can't move. Honestly, I thought I had pooped!!! NOPE!!! Thank God Travis was just coming back to the room. I told him to call the nurse. When she comes to help me she decides to get another nurse to help her get me up. As I'm walking to the bed I tell her I feel something between my legs. She tells me that's because Micah is coming NOW!!! That means no time for an epidural. The nurse really thought she was going to have to deliver Micah.
                                            **FEW DETAILS SKIPPED**
Five pushes later the most beautiful baby boy I've ever seen was here. Micah arrived at 2:14AM weighing 7lbs. 3oz. and 21 inches long.

Overall I couldn't have asked for a better experience I was really lucky. I can't believe I had a NATURAL childbirth. It was something I always wanted to do, but never thought I was strong enough for. The staff and The Birthplace at Gaston Memorial were absolutely wonderful. Each nurse I had was the perfect for the situation  I was going through. The lactation consultant was amazing. I could go on and on how wonderful everyone was.

Travis and I are so BLESSED!!! I have so much I could say here, but I'll save it for another post. It's almost midnight and I do have a new baby. I better get some sleep.

                                                                 Just a few minutes old.

Lil Pumpkin Baby Shower

My mom hosted a baby shower for me on Oct. 23rd. We had a fall/pumpkin themed shower. I feel like we are becoming "green" because this is the third event we've used these decorations for in a year. I love fall so it's the perfect theme in my opinion. Travis and I went to my parent's church for the shower. We had the best appetizers ever. I got all my favorites cocktail weenies, sausage balls, and chicken tenders. One of my mom's friends made these little pumpkin balls that taste just like a Reese's Cup!!!! We had the the most adorable pumpkin shaped cookies with Micah's initials on them and baby themed cupcakes.

Now for the downside of baby showers....

I haven't decided if pregnancy suits me or I'm an absolute fat ass!!! Some ladies know how to word things just right to keep you wondering. Here's a few things I heard Sunday:

Are you sure there isn't another one in there?
You're carrying too high to have a boy!
I can't believe you still have two months to go! (Your eyes must bulge out of your head when you say this.)
Oh my!!! (Once again with the eye bulge)

Thank you to all the ladies who told me I was all belly or that pregnancy suits me. I could hear that all day:)
Micah got tons of goodies. The most hilarious was when we opened a gift with girl clothes in it. HILARIOUS!!!! I have tons of cute clothes and blankets to wash this week. We made major bank in the gift card department. My parents even got Micah a Starbucks gift card!!! I think mommy and daddy will need that first.

Daddy's Home!!!!

I've been a little occupied since my hubby got home Sunday. Travis had been in Pennsylvania since June. I made a few trips up there to see him, but it's not the same as having him home. It was so exciting to show him Micah's nursery and all of his little clothes... which I've been informed that I can't buy anymore. Then the Honey Do List began. Travis has put together a swing, bassinet, and a hundred other things. I'm sure he will be glad to not see a screwdriver for a long time.

I'm so glad that I get to spend the rest of my pregnancy with my Babe by my side. He has missed alot but there is still so much we have to look forward to. We have our first baby shower Sunday. I can't wait!!!

I'm now 31 weeks pregnant. Seriously!?! Where does the time go? I'm still LOVING pregnancy. Even though my feet and ankles are swollen so much we call them elephant feet. Travis has alot of  foot rubs to make up for.

Bluum Box Anticipation!!!!

I "discovered" Bluum through another mommy blogger in the Charlotte area. I have a feeling it's going to be my new addiction. It's like a monthly Christmas present for mom and baby.

Here's the deal...

Every month you get a box with 4-5 product samples with the most sought after products for mom and baby. It's a great way to try out different products without having to spend a ton of money. You can also go to their website and purchase full size products of some of the items in your box. With every dollar you spend you earn bluum bux. Once you earn 110 bux you get $10 to purchase other product through their store.

Bluum also has a Facebook page that I love checking out. It's so neat to see all the mommies excited over their boxes. They have already started having contest as well. Who doesn't like to win free stuff?

I will definitely let eveyone know when I get my first box. I can't wait to see what I....oops...we get!!! In the mean time check them out http://www.bluum.com/ and get addicted with me:) Let me know what you think.
